Who We Are

Harvard Chan Africa Health Students Forum (AHF)

The Harvard Chan Africa Health Students Forum (AHF) was founded over twenty years ago and is comprised of African and non-African students at the school who have worked on the continent or who have a desire to connect with the African Continent. Our mission is two fold. First, we aim to further the debate and push the dominant discourse around public health issues facing Africa. Second, we aim to create a community of support for African students at Harvard Chan. AHF brings together students and professionals inspired to make a lasting impact on Africa’s health landscape through thought-provoking dialogues and strategic collaborations. Our flagship initiatives—including the annual Africa Health Conference, African Women Leaders from Harvard luncheon, fireside chats with key stakeholders, and community-building events—drive our mission to empower the next generation of leaders devoted to Africa’s health and prosperity.

Our Objectives

  1. Advancing Public Health Dialogue: We promote in-depth discussions on Africa’s healthcare challenges through fireside chats, speaker panels, and collaborative events that engage diverse perspectives.
  2. Building Community and Cultural Connection: We create a strong support network for African students at Harvard Chan through social and cultural events, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose among our members.
